Pediatric and Adolescent
Behavior and learning challenges can be difficult for children. Left undiagnosed or untreated, these problems can affect social interactions, academic performance, and overall self-esteem. Our doctors specialize in neuropsychological conditions in children and adolescents. We work with children and parents to understand the challenges they are facing and how these are affecting them in their day-to-day lives.
Some of the conditions we see in pediatric and adolescent patients include:
-
ADHD
-
Autism
-
Anxiety
-
Depression
-
Developmental delays
-
Learning disabilities
Diagnosis and Treatment
When making a diagnosis, we perform a neuropsychological evaluation. This is an important part of the diagnostic process consisting of questions and standardized measures that help us understand how the child’s brain processes information.
Other information, such as input from teachers, parents, or other medical professionals is also taken into consideration.
Once we have a clear understanding for the problem at hand, we work to provide a personalized treatment plan. These plans are comprehensive and strive to help the child through a variety of treatment approaches. Some of the treatments we may recommend include:
-
Speech, occupational, or physical therapy
-
Psychotherapy
-
Behavioral interventions
-
Accommodations for learning
A Partner in Your Child’s Academic Success
When a child’s condition is affecting their ability to learn and excel in class, we often work directly with the child’s family to develop an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Section 504 Plan to be given to the school for implementation. Our Center collaborates with many of the school districts in the area to provide diagnoses and treatment plans for children with conditions that are hard to diagnose or who have two or more medical conditions that make it hard for them to learn.
In cases where a child would benefit from a service not available in their school, we help parents access these services elsewhere.
